Loose-fitting blouse featuring tapered sleeves, a wrap-style opening, and a belt for an adjustable silhouette. With inspiration from the traditional Japanese short kimono jacket. Like the kimono, the straight cut and build of the Asane Wrap Shirt is informed by the width of traditional Kasuri (ikat) looms, which are characteristically narrow, allowing the weaver to control tension for a supple texture.

Made in Flower Bed — a warp Kasuri pattern... (VENTER PÅ INFO FRA KYOZO). The making of Kasuri fabrics involves more than thirty intricate processes, with specialized craftspeople responsible for each stage. Because the process is so intricate, the fabric has long been reserved for the few — once woven for nobility, gifted to brides, and offered to the gods.

The fabrics are woven in a 75-year-old, family-run mill in Yame, Japan, using preserved Kasuri techniques and salvaged Toyota power looms — relics of the Industrial Revolution. Once a nationwide-practiced craft used for kimono-making, Kasuri declined after the post-war shift toward western fashion and synthetic textiles, leaving only a few remaining mills in Yame, whom today are acknowledged as preservers of culture in Japan.
