Variation of the classic Amish Center Diamond layout with a split diamond, created by contrasting fabric directions. Finished with a quilt binding and hand ties. 

Made in Blue-White Vibration and Soft Indigo, both warp ikats, made using a traditional resist-dye technique where dye is applied to the yarn before weaving.

The repeated quilt block pattern is inspired by early 20th-century Amish geometric quilts— now recognized as America’s first major abstract art. The Amish quilting tradition, rooted in principles of self-sufficiency, reflects a broader global history of quiltmaking that spans centuries and cultures. With the acceleration of industrialization in the West, quilts became emblematic of a pre-industrial past of tradition and folkways, and quilt-making became imbued with nostalgia.
